The program “Mountain therapy for Ukrainian veterans and their families”
Today, the situation with psychological rehabilitation of military personnel and people with war trauma in Ukraine is difficult, as there is a lack of psychologists who can work with the effects of combat stress, war trauma and loss in a full-scale war. Therefore, it is advisable to look for additional rehabilitation activities and create peer-to-peer groups
The goal of the Gorotherapy program is to combine the most effective elements of healing that have been scientifically proven to be effective in the world of science: scientifically proven stabilization methods (EMDR, trauma-focused CBT), the creation of a peer support group, support from a program instructor and psychologist, mindfulness practices and the healing resources of nature. The program’s specialists are experienced guides and psychologists who have been working with the military and their families since 2014. The program is implemented in partnership with Ukrainian veterans from the NGO Nomad.live.
The program is organized on the principle of a forest retreat (solitude of the group in the forest for 4 days) to help people go deeper and find resources for further healing in nature and in themselves. The group will be accompanied by a guide and a psychologist who have experience working with military personnel and their families and have been trained in working with the military, including people released from captivity.
The program lasts for 4 days.
We, Metta’s NGO, cover the costs of transportation from Lviv to the tourist location, accommodation, meals, and participation in the program.
We do not compensate for transportation to Lviv and back to the location for participants.
Rules of participation:
- To be present for 4 days.
- Do not use psychoactive substances.
Every day, if necessary, participants have the opportunity to work individually with psychologists / psychotherapists who are accompanied.
